TDA presents the LIRS resurvey project at TMAC’s FY2027 orientation
On 29 October 2026, Mr. Amornchai Sirisai, President of the Thai Civilian Deminer Association (TDA), attended the Fiscal Year 2027 Orientation for humanitarian mine action personnel, organised by the Thailand Mine Action Center (TMAC) at the Royal Thai Armed Forces Strategic Studies Center in Chonburi.

About 90 people took part, including military personnel, international NGOs and representatives of the US Humanitarian Demining Unit.
What comes next for TDA: LIRS
Mr. Amornchai presented TDA’s track record and its next step: the Landmine and ERW Impact Resurvey (LIRS) along the Thai–Cambodian border over the next two years.

- Seven border provinces along about 817 km of the Thai–Cambodian border.
- Three survey teams with 35 personnel, working under TMAC’s guidance.
- Non-technical survey (NTS) to IMAS 08.10, combined with a socio-economic impact assessment in every village, and drones to confirm boundaries from safe ground.
- All data quality-checked before entry into TMAC’s IMSMA database.
- About 450,000 villagers along the border will know which areas are dangerous and how to avoid them.
TDA thanks TMAC for the opportunity to present and looks forward to working with all partners to make Thailand’s border communities safe.
