        Thai territory free from landmines, local people are happy and safety

Earnestly support and clear landmines from dangerous area and assist landmine victims and vulnerable group

                                               Strategic Planning
Short term: Clear landmines in high priority areas
Medium term: Clear landmines in proximity of farm land and help landmine victims
Long term: Help clear all minefields in Thai territory

TDA established by the group of local mine action experts and deminers of about 30 persons who have assisted Thailand Mine Action Center (TMAC) over the past 16 years especially in landmine clearance along border area to provide safety living condition to local people, and so in victim assistance. The TDA was officially granted the “Legal Registration” on 15th March 2010.

This group of TDA founders has assisted TMAC since 2000 especially in the “Level One Landmine Impact Survey: LIS” in which many of them took part. They have continued to assist TMAC in minefield reduction activities along border area especially with Cambodia. For instance, during November 2007 to October 2009 this group took part in the “Integrated Area Reduction Survey” project (IARS) that was financially supported of US$ 1,282,070   by the government of Japan via the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF).

1.     To support and undertake humanitarian mine actions, together with the
        Thailand Mine Action Centre (clearance of landmines, mine marking, etc.)
2.     To provide assistance to TDA members-deminer.     
3.     To promote income generation to landmine victims and vulnerable groups
4.     To promote reforestation, plantation of economic trees and thatch grass along
        the border area to return a good environment to local communities.
5.     To provide consultancy and share expert knowledge regarding demining
        operations in Thailand and abroad.
6.     To provide emergency rescue in case of natural disasters

Previous Activities

TDA carried out landmine clearance project namely “The Implementation and Dissemination of the Experience of Minefield Releasing at Border Area with Cambodia in Surin Province, Thailand (MRCT Project)”, with operational budget  of USD 473,055.96 granted by the JAPAN government via the JAPAN-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF). The MRCT project operated in 18 months, with 19 project staffs during 1 April 2014 to 30 September 2015, could find and remove 2,729 landmines/ERW and return safe area of 2,445,513 sq. m. to local people to utilize for their better life. No landmine accident in that site ever since.  

Current Activities

In the wake of excellent success of the previously completed MRCT project, the JAPAN government kindly provide continuously financial assistance of USD 806,275.77 via the JAPAN-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF) to TDA to execute another landmine clearance project namely “Integrated Landmine Clearance to Promote Cross Border Economy (in ASEAN Countries) -  Lesson Learned from Thailand: ICEA”. The ICEA project is to clear landmines in border areas for “Economic Promotion” in Sa Kaeo and Surin Province in 2 operational years during 1 September 2016 to 31 August 2018 with 24 project staffs. Now the project is being operated in Buached District of Surin Province.
